Georgia's Appeal

Presentation of cheque to Georgia

L-R:  Charlotte Webb (Brentwood), Hannah McCann (Brentwood),
Alexis Wilson (Levitation), Stephen Page (Brentwood)
& Georgia Cordery

Following the cancellation of a popular competition in Ipswich, the three local trampoline clubs (Brentwood, Levitation & Recoil Twisters) saw a golden opportunity to run an event to raise funds for popular ex-trampolinist, Georgia Cordery's Teenage Cancer Appeal.  The resulting Open Competition attracted over 200 entries and with all three clubs looking for ways to raise extra money finally raised a profit of over £1,000.

The competition also saw the introduction of the G Cordery Form Shields which were awarded to the highest form scores of the day for all under-15 and all over-15 performers.  The inaugural winners were Charlotte Webb (U15) and Stephen Page (O15); these shields have been donated to the Eastern Region of British Gymnastics to be used at an open competition of its choice each year as a lasting reminder of Georgia's Appeal.

With the National Trampoline Championships looming on 18th/19th July, Georgia took the opportunity to visit Brentwood School Sports Centre to meet some of the clubs' national finalists and to receive £1,087.87 for her appeal fund.

Speaking after the presentation one of Brentwood's coaches, Dave Kingaby, said "the cancellation of the Ipswich competition was a golden opportunity for our clubs to pull together for Georgia.  Training, as we (BTC) do, at Brentwood School Sports Centre we have often seen Georgia competing for her school at netball and have been impressed by her commitment to life and sport despite the blow life has dealt her.  It was hard work but thoroughly rewarding and I know that all the trampoline clubs in Brentwood were pleased to have contributed towards her goals."
