Brentwood Trampoline Club continues an excellent tradition of producing members able to represent their region and country. Most recently the club was delighted to see 7 of its members selected to represent East of England at the English National Championships. Although East finished in 6th place (of the 10 regions) the club's members performed well with Scott Gregory and Stephen Page helping the Region to its best result with Silver in the men's team championship. Scott Gregory was further delighted last week to also discover that he has been selected by the British Olympic Association to represent Team GB in the Australian Youth Olympic Festival (AYOF).
Although training in Brentwood, Scott is a Chingford resident and is a member of the Newham Sports Academy supported by Tessa Sanderson (1984 Olympic Gold Medallist in javelin). The aims of the Academy are to identify and support young talent within the London Boroughs hosting the 2012 Olympics, and Tessa was delighted to visit the club recently to congratulate Scott on his AYOF selection (see picture).
The AYOF is a bi-annual multi-sport event for Olympic aspirants between the ages of 13 and 19. It is organised and hosted by the Australian Olympic Committee, and importantly has the patronage of the International Olympic Committee - Scott's selection by the BOA is a clear indication that he is on track for possible 2012 representation.
